Networking For a Dummy

Many people think that they must be a dummy if they don't know how to install a network for their family home computers.

I say that because books and featured articles which say they are designed for dummies continue to sell well and to be much sought after. In truth nobody should consider themselves a "dummy" for not knowing how to set up a computer network.

Unless any of us are trained to do this, or happen to be lucky enough to have someone around who can sort something out like this for a friend, we are bound to feel a bit foolish. It is quite bewildering looking at the back of a computer and wondering which if any of all those connections might, if presented with the right cables and boxes, magically connect two computers!

Once you know how, it is just a case of following the necessary hardware and software installation steps, and "hey-presto" you have a network - the little LED lamps start to twinkle, and all is well!
